2017 was an exciting year for the extraordinary trio. Over 10,000 air miles to the south of the USA and back, as well as almost 80,000 km with the tour bus. Some of it also accounted for in miles on the tour through Mississippi, Tennessee and Alabama. Yes, and when a band travels so much, they have a lot to tell afterwards - which is also done in detail in the comprehensive booklet. You can feel all this when the CD "Way back Home" turns its rounds in the CD player. The band has grown together! Kevin O Neal, meanwhile 2-time German Beatbox Champion, sets the beat and prepares the groove on which the soloists Chris Kramer and Sean Athens can spread out with harmonica and guitar solos to their heart's content.The whole thing sounds so fresh and unspent independent that one is directly caught by this sound. With "Jukebox" there is a funky blues as opener, which is rocked by "Ain't nobody at home", before it goes with "Beatbox 'n' Boogie" more traditional to the point. "Ashes to ashes" is the first ballad on the album and at the same time the first of a total of four tracks in which strings support the energetic trio. Goosebumps, the first! Sean Athens is clearly at home on rock guitar in the style of Garry Moore and Joe Bonamassa, while Kevin O Neal is deeply rooted in hip-hop.
Exactly that is the strength of the album: to let pictures arise in the head and that in many ways, because this CD "Way Back Home" comes stylistically versatile and gives a wide musical spectrum of blues about Tex-Mex, rock, funk, hip-hop and beautiful ballads, which (whether in English, German or as an instrumental) tells wonderful stories.
